HDI’s Support Has Helped Build A One of A Kind Digital Certification Center in Fond-des-Blancs, Haiti
EkiTèk Training Center Opens in Fond-des-Blancs
In a significant step toward bridging the digital divide in rural Haiti, ADF Haiti is proud to present EkiTèk, Haiti's first and only Certiport Authorized Testing Center (CATC). Made possible through crucial support from the Haiti Development Institute (HDI), this groundbreaking initiative is already transforming digital education opportunities in Haiti's Sud department.
Making Digital Education Accessible
Located in Fond-des-Blancs, EkiTèk has quickly established itself as a vital educational resource, equipped with 20 modern computer workstations serving students from across the region. The center has already achieved remarkable enrollment numbers, with 169 active students participating in various certification programs:
120 students enrolled in the foundational IC3 digital literacy course, learning essential computer skills
49 students preparing for the Microsoft Office Specialist Word certification exam
29 students who have already earned certifications that are exclusively available through EkiTèk in Haiti
"These numbers represent real change in our community," explains Josiah Thomas, CEO of ADF Haiti. "Each certification earned at EkiTèk is a stepping stone toward better employment opportunities for our youth. The fact that we've already provided 29 internationally recognized certifications – certifications that weren't previously available anywhere in Haiti – shows the tremendous impact of HDI's support."
A Community-Driven Solution
HDI's support has been instrumental in establishing EkiTèk as a sustainable educational resource. Through their grant program, HDI has enabled ADF Haiti to:
Establish a fully-equipped computer training facility
Secure essential international certification partnerships
Develop comprehensive digital literacy curricula
Create accessible scholarship programs for local students
Impact and Future Prospects
"What makes these achievements particularly significant is that they're happening in rural Haiti," notes Fritz-Heber Lamy, General Manager at ADF Haiti. "We're proving that with the right support and infrastructure, we can provide world-class digital education opportunities outside of Port-au-Prince."
This initiative exemplifies HDI's commitment to supporting Haitian-led solutions to local challenges. Through their support, EkiTèk is not just teaching computer skills – it's creating a new generation of digitally certified professionals in rural Haiti.
